After 4 year of dental school and 2.5 years of orthodontic school, Dr. Soleil decided to continue her education by completing an additional 1.5 years of specialty fellowship training in Craniofacial Orthodontics at Seattle Children’s Hospital. With an exclusive focus on orthodontic treatment for cleft lip/palate and craniofacial syndromes, Dr. Soleil had the opportunity to train alongside some of the most renowned orthodontists, surgeons, and physicians in the world. She now practices state-of-the-art techniques for treatment of craniofacial patients from birth to adulthood.
As part of her research and fellowship training, Dr. Soleil had the opportunity to learn about pediatric sleep apnea from the outstanding pulmonologists, ENTs, and sleep specialists at Seattle Children’s Hospital. Dr. Soleil has since lectured at multiple national meetings for the American Academy of Dental Sleep Medicine, as well as locally, combining her knowledge of dentistry and orthodontics with her experience in sleep medicine. With an understanding of the treatments provided by sleep specialists, Dr. Soleil is able to recommend orthodontic options for increasing the size of the airway during growth and development, which can enhance both daytime and nighttime breathing for patients with airway obstruction.
In addition to treating these patients in her own practice, Dr. Soleil teaches Cleft Lip and Palate Orthodontics and Pediatric Sleep Apnea Orthodontics to the orthodontic graduate students at the University of Washington every Tuesday afternoon. She finds it truly rewarding to be able to share her experiences with the residents and assist in hands-on treatment of patients with these conditions.
